No two stones are truly alike. That's why we want to share some advice on how to keep your countertops looking good as new. Scroll down for helpful information on each type of stone and our recommendations. For more in-depth information, check out our blog.

General Tips

Our Best Advice (regardless of stone type):

  • Clean up all spills as soon as possible

  • Clean countertops daily

  • Avoid dropping heavy objects like pots and pans

  • Avoid exposing your countertop to harsh chemicals

  • Use cutting boards when cutting or slicing; don't cut directly on the countertop

  • ​Place hot items or appliances on hot pads or trivets

  • Place coasters under drinks

Natural Stones: Marble, Granite, Quartzite, Soapstone

Benefits: 

  • Scratch-resistant

  • Heat-resistant

  • High durability

Care and Best Use:

  • Natural stone is porous and requires resealing for upkeep

  • Clean daily with mild soap and warm water

  • Keep the countertop dry by wiping down the surface and removing residue

Engineered Stone: Quartz

Benefits: 

  • Easy maintenance

  • Heat-resistant

  • High durability

Care and Best Use:

  • Clean with dish soap, warm water, and a cloth or sponge

    • Or fill a spray bottle with soap and water, and use a cloth or sponge​

  • To remove a grease stain, moisten a cloth with rubbing alcohol and wipe the countertop down

  • Disinfect the countertop with 70% isopropyl alcohol, and rinse the area with water before drying the countertop

Solid Surfaces

Benefits: 

  • Replicate the look of natural stones

  • Heat-, stain-, and moisture-resistant

  • Easy to clean and resistant to damage

Care and Best Use:

  • Apply a similar combination of dish soap and warm water with a cloth for daily cleaning

  • Use a solid surface cleaning solution for harder stains

    • Avoid using window cleaners​

  • Always dry the countertop after use or cleaning
